Magnolia Place is your retreat. Stroll around the Inn and discover something interesting around
every corner and up every staircase.
Without compromising on any amenities or service to our guests, and still
maintaining Magnolia Place’s elegance and quiet ambience of yesteryear, we are
excited to add NEW Guiding Principles. We are proud to initiate going GREEN.
Our guest soaps are locally made with all natural ingredients. Shampoos and
shower soaps are allergy/scent free, and cleaning supplies eco-friendly. Windows
are washed the old-fashioned way with vinegar and water solution. While we have
always used cloth napkins, paper towels will be used at a minimum. We are asking
our guests to join us in saving water and energy by volunteering to hang and re-use
their bath towels if they choose. In the winter or any chilly night, we use sustainable
firewood in the main guest living room fireplace, equipped with an efficient blower
system to enable us to keep the thermostats lower in all the common areas of the
house. And who wouldn’t like sitting in front of a cozy fire on a cold night!

To further enhance going GREEN, we will be delighted in continuing to inform our
guests of the many ‘non-energy usage’ activities in our beautiful Finger Lakes
area…kayaking and sailing on Seneca Lake, swimming and picnicking at our local
Clute Park on Seneca, hiking the Watkins Glen State Park gorge, as well as,
exploring the 16,036 acres of the Finger lakes National Forest practically in our
backyard with trails in the summer for hiking and picnicking, and snowshoeing or
cross country skiing in the winter.
Information has always been available for our
guests on local artisans who hand-make or hand-craft articles of wood, fiber, and
clay and other sustainable materials. As part of an agri-tourism movement in our
rural countryside, we will direct you to the many farms, apple, peach and cherry
orchards and vegetable gardens during the season, which offer hand-picking and
road side produce much of it organically grown. Try our local dairy farm cheeses,
and of course concord GRAPES in late summer from our many local vineyards are
in abundance!
GREEN is part of our Guiding Principles, our guests are our motivation!
