A little about the Heart of Magnolia Place….
Theresa Remmers is the proprietor of the historic farm, Magnolia Place Bed and Breakfast. Theresa (or Terri when guests quickly get to know her), brings years of living, observing, and subsequently learning front-of-house and back-of-house, gaining professional expertise in Hyatt Hotels. Theresa grew up in California, where her father was a Regional Vice President. So it is not just a coincidence or whim having literally been brought up in the hotel industry that the idea of operating one’s own property in lodging and hospitality came to fruition. In 2002 Theresa greeted her first guests at Magnolia Place Bed and Breakfast having settled in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region. Guests are greeted with a convivial, well informed, and gracious hostess, whose professionalism encompasses the big picture of what each guest wants and expects. Even more importantly to Theresa is her attention to the details of the property’s meticulously updated elegant rooms and inviting beds, comfortably appointed common areas and sweeping verandas ready for guests to enjoy sunsets and wine, to all the small amenities of what the term ‘high-end’ in the lodging industry stands for. Theresa has created your own Pied a Terre, away from home!
Of course a Bed and Breakfast has TWO components….the integral Breakfast part! Chef Ted Palevsky, Theresa’s partner, is well and truly a Foodie…and is a natural, ‘cooking up’ the most mouth-watering casseroles, omelets, pancakes, waffles and breakfast meats, along with out-of-the-oven muffins and rolls. Often Ted flavors breakfasts with the seasons…maybe local summer peaches to pumpkin syrups in the fall, and garnishes from his garden. The aromas from the kitchen will tempt even the pickiest of guests. Although Ted as the perfect host will say with a smile ‘Some guests are not ‘picky’, they just know what they want’, which he then will try to accommodate! Starting the mornings Ted prepares everything, from locally roasted daily ground coffee, fresh fruits, yoghurt, and juices in champagne flutes, to five star breakfasts, all beautifully plated and individually served by Theresa. On any given morning, guests are greeted by amusing conversation and anecdotes from Ted and served by a welcoming Theresa. As much attention is given to perhaps only just two visiting guests’ enjoyment, as is a full-house complement of sixteen guests. Bon Appétit!
